Brian: You were home late last night, darling. I didn’t get in myself until after midnight. Justin kept the wine flowing in grand style. I was sure you would have been home before me.
Jennifer: Well you were wrong. I had a lovely long dinner with my new friend, Jo. Like me she has endured years of supporting her egotistical husband through thick and thin and pretending she didn’t know about the numerous mistresses who got younger every year.
Brian: Well he sounds interesting. Anyone I know ?
Jennifer : Well it hardly matters now. Luckily for Jo he dropped dead last year in the company of a twenty-something gold digger. So she’s still got her lovely house outside Borchester and a villa in Tuscany.
Brian: Well I’m very happy that you’ve got a new friend, Jenny. I’m sure you’ll enjoy shopping together and exchanging recipes. You’ll have to invite her round for lunch.
Jennifer: To this shoebox ! You must be joking ! In fact I’ve booked a table for lunch today at Grey Gables.
Brian: Excellent. I look forward to meeting her. I agree that we are getting into a bit of a rut with our social life now we’re away from Home Farm.
Jennifer: Oh, you’re not invited, Brian. Jo is my special friend and you’re not going to ruin it for me.
Brian: What do you mean by special friend ? And how did you meet her ?
Jennifer: I met her on Grindr. We appeared to have a lot in common.
Brian: But that’s a dating site for ... (choking sounds)
Jennifer: Absolutely, Brian. I’ve had enough of men and so has she. So if you’ll excuse me I have to go upstairs to get changed for lunch.
