Episode 47

🎼. Dum ti dum ti dum ti dum ...

Shula:  Morning, Adam.  We don’t normally see you at the stables.  Have you come to book some riding lessons for Zander ?

Adam:  Hardly, let’s wait until he’s out of nappies at least.

Shula:  Only joking of course but we can start him on something small to begin with or put the basket saddle on Benjamin the donkey over there.  He’s a very placid old soul.

Adam:  Well I did come over to talk about horses but only to ask if you were missing some.

Shula:  Missing some ?  You mean stolen ?

Adam:  I don’t know if you heard but the night before last someone opened the gate to the deer paddocks and all the hinds escaped.  We managed to round up most of them but there are still a few in the woods.

Shula:  Oh hard luck, Adam.  But no, my lot are all present and correct.

Adam:  Well the thing is, Alice was helping on the round up and she noticed some hoof prints in the paddocks.  She reckons two light horses, probably thoroughbreds or Arabs, and an unshod animal with very small feet, probably a donkey.

Shula:  Oh Benjamin, have you been up to your old tricks again ?

(Benjamin:  It wasn’t me, Mum.  A big boy did it and ran away!)

(Amir:  And that’s oor AARS oot the windae !)

🎼. Dum ti dum ti dum ti dum ...

(Ed.  It was fun while it lasted.)
