Episode 120
🎼. Dum ti dum ti dum ti dum...
Elizabeth: What is this all about and why do we have to meet on the roof ?
Freddie: Lily and I want to talk to you privately about our inheritance and there are visitors and staff all over the house and garden. We thought this would be a good place as we can see everything you’re planning to take away from us.
Elizabeth: Well I hate it up here and haven’t put a foot on the roof since that terrible night.
Lily: You mean the night Dad died ?
Elizabeth: Yes of course, I’ll never forget it.
Freddie: But what were you doing here ? You told us Dad and Uncle David were removing the Christmas banner, you never mentioned anyone else.
Elizabeth: Well, I followed them up to try and persuade them not to do it. It was very windy and noisy so when I came up behind Nigel he got a fright and fell over the parapet.
(sound of footsteps)
Russ: What’s going on ? What are you all doing on the roof ?
Lily: Go away, Russ, this is family business and you’re not family.
Russ: I may not be family now but your mother and I will be getting married once I am free and we settle abroad.
Lily : You BEEP BEEP. You’ve made me wait all this time for your divorce and now you’re going to marry my mother ! I’m going to kill you !
Freddie: Steady, Lily, he’s not worth it as my prison pals would say. It’s clear that we’re going to need legal advice on this and now we know that Mum was on the roof when Dad died we can get the police involved, too. I don’t think Lower Loxsley will be on the market any time soon.
Elizabeth: Please don’t go to the police, Freddie, I couldn’t bear to go through all that again. I won’t sell the estate and we can set up the inheritance trust that your father was planning.
Russ: But what about me, Elizabeth, and all our plans for Italy and painting ?
Elizabeth: I’m sorry, Russ, it was a moment of madness to think we could be together. To be honest, you’re not really posh enough for me. From now on it’s landed gentry or nothing.
Russ: I can’t believe you’d do this to me after all I’ve done for you.
Freddie: Oh grow up, Russ. Nobody wants you here so just piss off !
Russ: I will and you’ll be sorry !
Freddie: Such a drama queen. What are you going to do, jump off the roof ?
(sound of running feet)
(short pause)
(loud thud)
Lily: Oh my God, he’s jumped !
Elizabeth: I can’t bear to look, this is all my fault !
(short pause)
Freddie: Bloody typical, they’ve just delivered the mats for the new soft play area and he’s landed on them.
